The Travelwitz "Although most people put a nametag on the outside of their luggage, you should also put your name and contact information on a sticker or tag inside your suitcases. We were reunited with a lost suitcase by using this tip."
June Barton "For our last 2 family car trips, we rented a minivan instead of taking our own family car. This way, we avoid extra miles and wear on our car, we enjoy the extra space, and to the kids the trip seems more like an adventure. Plus, we've done the cost accounting on this, and in our case it was cheaper to rent a car for a long trip (with unlimited mileage in the rental), than to put excess miles and maintenance into our own car."
HandyAndy1 "We didn't know this until recently, so I thought others would want to know too -- even if you buy airline tickets from an online seller and you're not part of the frequent flyer program for the airline, you can call the airline after you fly the tickets, join the frequent flyer program, and get miles credits for the tickets you already bought and flew before you were a member."
Travel Ann "We had a very bad travel experience with an airline, and at first I thought we'd just ignore it since we did end up reaching our destination when planned, but I decided to e-mail the airline and explain to them the details of what happened with our flight (planes were changed, delayed, lack of help with connecting flight & more). In response to my e-mail they ended up sending us travel vouchers worth $300.00! - so my tip is - let the airline know if your experience was bad - they may try to make it up to you - and you can e-mail - you don't even have to call by phone and wait on hold."
Sandy Eli "Colorful plastic 'zip ties' from the hardware store make great durable identifiers on your luggage handles -- they're cheap, they don't pull off the suitcases, and you can just look for the 'orange zip tie' on your bag to tell it apart from all the look-alikes on the luggage belt."
